SCHOOL SHOES FOR KIDS… BRANSON LANDING’S SHOE DRIVE
BRANSON, MO, June 20, 2007 - With the help of countless supporters, philanthropic organizations and six Branson Landing retail establishments, “School Shoes for Kids”—a community outreach program in cooperation with OnMedia Cable Company, has been created. The much needed “School Shoes for Kids” Program will supply new school shoes to those children in need, throughout Stone and Taney County in Missouri.
“Unfortunately, we often think of poverty and need on a national/inner city level but there is such a strong demand for school supplies, clothes and shoes…the basic necessities, right here in our own backyard,” stated Tammy Scholten, Marketing Manager for the Branson Landing. “I am confident that this much needed community shoe drive will help several hundred local children in the Stone and Taney County school systems, start the new school year - with new shoes!”
Participation in the “School Shoes for Kids” program is very easy. Shoppers can simply purchase a new pair of shoes for school aged children – now through September 9th and drop them off at any of the participating Branson Landing retailers:
- Bass Pro Shops
- Famous Footwear
- Justice—Just for Girls
- New Balance—Branson
- Payless Shoes
- Tradehome Shoes
This year’s campaign kicked off on Saturday, June 16th and those donating new shoes this summer, will receive an extra benefit. With each new pair of shoes donated, the participating Branson Landing retailers will provide donors with one FREE child’s admission ticket to Celebration City—a local family oriented amusement park, built for kids. “When Ms. Scholten approached us about the program, we knew that we wanted to get involved and thought what better way to help out than to let parents treat their own children to a day of family fun at our park,” stated John Fitzgibbons, General Manager of Celebration City Theme Park in Branson, MO.
“This year’s shoe drive promises to be big” stated Lisa Bench, representative for OnMedia Cable Company. “We have six great retailers at the Branson Landing serving as the drop off points and with the support of the community, our goal is to collect and distribute 1,000 new pair of shoes to area school children.”
New shoe donations should be made at any of the participating retailers’ drop off bins during normal operating hours at Branson Landing - now through September 9th. All of the shoes collected during this campaign will be disbursed among two local charities (Gift of Hope and Love INC.) during their annual School Readiness Fairs held in August.
